Godpreneurs Can Relate With Jesus' Journey and Grow in His Power.
Updated: Aug 19, 2021
I never thought that God and business mixed. I never imagined that Jesus’ life here on earth would provide such a great example on me and how I should run my company. After all, he lived 2000 years ago when there weren’t nearly as many problems as there are today, right?
It was difficult to relate to Jesus in any area of my life because I didn’t know him that well. I didn’t know God that well. I didn’t know the spirit that well. My limited understanding created the limitation on the influence.
But as I’ve grown to learn more about Jesus, I can relate to him a lot more. I realized he was also human, just like me. He went through the same challenges I go through in my business almost daily – temptation, betrayal, loss, confusion, anger, frustration, thirst, and fatigue.
We entrepreneurs sometimes feel alone in our fight. And although we believe in God and call ourselves followers of Christ, we always have more room to grow because we have a human Jesus that “gets” us.
The bible says
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:14-16 NIV)
Like no other person in history, Jesus was unique because he was both fully God and fully man. Only because he shared in our humanity is he the perfect person to follow. He’s the perfect pattern to follow when running a business.
Jesus shared your complete entrepreneurial experience. He was born a baby, went through adolescence, grew up just like you did, and died. He went through trials and tribulations so that you would have an example of overcoming similar challenges in your business.
You can emulate Jesus in your business because he shared the human experience too. Jesus chose to live entirely within his humanity as the true human who exemplified the Spirit-empowered life. For this reason, you’re able to relate to his teachings and bring them into your daily business life.
Jesus’ humanity means that he “gets” us as Godpreneurs. He understands the different challenges we go through in business – loss, betrayal, abandonment, temptation. We can run to Jesus in the dark hours of our entrepreneurial journey knowing he lives to mediate for us and pour out mercy upon us.
Jesus shows us how to run our business — a Spirit-filled venture. He walked depending on the same spirit we all have access to daily, making sure everything was God first.
We can follow him as our primary example.
Our business life will never be the same if we do so.
