Your Loss is Your Business’s Gain

Updated: Apr 2, 2021

I’ve never told anyone this, but my blogs are really a way for me to deal with the suffering I’ve gone through with my business.

I’ve been through lawsuits, bad partnership breakups, collections notices, near eviction for nonpayment, building a team and having to let them all go, and not to mention marriage problems and daddy issues.

We’ve all gone through suffering in one way or another. This means it’s unavoidable. If this is true, then God MUST be using it for a reason. In this case, we should see suffering as the greatest tool in discovering our born-to-do identity.

In the Bible we read about Joseph. Sold into slavery, thrown in captivity, he suffered tremendously. But we wouldn’t be talking about him today had he not gone through that suffering. Moreover, we wouldn’t be learning from him had he been aware that, in that suffering, God was at work.

What if the greatest product or service we have to offer came from our darkest moments in business?

What if our business scars point to a greater story for our brand?

For me, my suffering has actually produced a deep passion and desire to help other entrepreneurs around me in 2 ways.

First, I blog about my suffering so that others can learn and grow from it. What’s come about is an entire ministry devoted to Godpreneurs who want to live business by the book! It’s through our suffering that we can serve others like us.

Second, my suffering guided my new products and services.

I launched my company www.launchin2days.com out of the hell I went through with a series of clients in 2016. They helped me realize that I was in the right business, but selling it the wrong way.

Clients that gave me problems were really teaching me that not everyone is for me. Jobs that made me suffer helped me to tweak the process, cut the fat, add some protection, and deliver a better product next time.

Jesus suffered, but He overcame that and showed us that, although on the outside things might look terrible, in the end, God wins and there is major victory when we devote ourselves completely to His will for our lives.

Out of Jesus' suffering, He healed the world.

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians:

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort." (2 Corinthians 1:3‭-‬7)

Imagine if Godpreneurs looked at their suffering as the exact tool God is using to shape our identity. Our suggestion will light fires in our business lives, and that fire could either burn us to the ground or be contained within a lamp and put out to display for the whole world to see and use.

Question: Are you surprised that Entrepreneurship isn’t all fun and games, but instead it’s a roller coaster ride of emotions?

What’s your suffering story?  Write a letter to Jesus laying out all of the suffering you’ve gone through. This is an incredibly powerful exercise.
